JASON RAU
Head Instructor
Jason Rau is a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt under Matt Serra, earning his rank in 2016. He trained extensively in the “Blue Basement” under John Danaher, learning alongside some of the best grapplers in the world.
Jason has competed at the highest levels of the sport, including a runner-up finish at the ADCC North American Trials. Known worldwide
for his detailed instruction and innovative approach to grappling, he has built a
reputation as one of the most respected instructors in the game today.
NICK RONAN
Head Instructor
Nick Ronan is a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt under Matt Serra, promoted in 2020. He trained extensively in the legendary “Blue Basement” under John Danaher alongside some of the best grapplers in the world.
Nick has represented Team USA on Polaris and continues to compete internationally while building a reputation as a highly technical instructor and competitor.
Dylan Benningfield
Instructor
Dylan Benningfield is a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt under Jason Rau and Nick Ronan, promoted in 2025. A medalist at multiple ADCC Open events, Dylan is known for his aggressive, submission-hunting style.
Considered one of the top up-and-coming grapplers on the East Coast, he brings both competitive drive and a sharp technical eye to his instruction.
Manny Reinoso
Instructor
Manny Reinoso is a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt under Jason Rau and Nick Ronan, promoted in 2025. He has been training at Serra’s alongside Jason and Nick since the age of 15, building a deep foundation in grappling.
In addition to BJJ, Manny has an extensive kickboxing background under the late James Gabert and brings striking expertise to the academy. He currently teaches both Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Kickboxing.
Matt Frevola
Head of Kickboxing
Matt Frevola is a UFC lightweight and a brown belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu under Matt Serra. Originally from Florida, he moved to New York to train as part of the renowned Serra-Longo Fight Team.
Matt brings years of high-level fight experience to the academy and leads the kickboxing program with a focus on blending strikingfundamentals with proven MMA applications build confidence, discipline, and a love for the art.
